Have you jumped over to the Inner Fire Facebook group this week? We are in the middle of a Jumpstart January Challenge and there is still time to join us. Click Here to join the group. We are 3 days into January and 2017! Are you as EXCITED for the New Year as I am? I think part of the reason why I am so excited is because this year I am in LOVE, LOVE, LOVE with my word for the year: Simplicity. Who’s with me on this one? My intention for this year is to simplify my life and business. So, what exactly do I mean? What does it truly mean to simplify? If your life feels complicated, stressed or out of control…Keep reading! “Remove anything that complicates your life and preventing you from freely pursuing your purpose for living. . .while enjoying the journey.” –Harold Herring One thing you must remember with any intention that you set is that your life will not just magically change unless you take action. So, I thought I’d talk about some actions we can take if you want to join me in simplifying. Simplifying your life can be as simple as decluttering drawers, closets, the pesky storage area under the stairs, etc. – However, there are other areas of your life, like the ones below, causing “clutter.” If you take action to rid yourself this type of clutter, as well, you are left with a life that gives you more value. Time – How do you spend your day? What are you actually accomplishing? Are you hitting your priorities or just surfing the web or Instagram for more hours than you’d like to admit? Are you missing time to workout because you're watching TV instead? Evaluate what you could eliminate to increase your productivity and/or your health from day to day. Negative Nancy’s – Unfortunately sometimes we surround ourselves with people we love, but that also can drag us down. We all have a little “Negative Nancy” inside of us, and it’s hard enough to keep “her” at bay sometimes. Why add to unconstructive surroundings by being around more negativity? Simplifying means spending more time with people you love and make you feel good. That might mean spending a little less time with those that aren’t your biggest supporters – just be around them in smaller doses. Multi-tasking – Oh, I am SO guilty of this ALL DAY LONG! I could easily have 15 tabs open on my Safari and another 10 word docs and 5 more pdfs open at the same time! Of course I’m “working” on all of them at the same time though, right?? Did you know that multi-tasking increases stress and lowers productivity? You (and I) can take action by working on ONE task at a time. Let’s be “Single-Taskers”! Our goal will be to take on one task, complete it and then move on to the next item on our list. A helpful tip I learned was to write your top 3 tasks for each day on a post-it (yes just 3) and keep your focus on one-at-a-time until they are done. As your health and fitness coach, my promise to you this year is SIMPLICITY. Simple recipes, simple routines, simple lifestyle behavior changes…simple, simple, simple! You can live a life of joy, peace and happiness. A life without constant stress, overwhelm, and dissatisfaction. I am here to support you this year.
