Choosing a Guiding Word of the Year 2019

As 2018 is winding down, it’s that time of year when most people start thinking ahead to their New Year’s resolutions.

Not this mom. I’m not a huge fan of resolutions, and I’ll tell you why. How many years have you said during January that “you’re going to lose weight,” or “you’re going to finally get healthy,” or “you’re going to get more organized,” or “take more time for yourself”?

Well how many of these resolutions did you follow through with and stay true to yourself about? Unfortunately, statistics show that 80% of resolutions fail by the second week of February. YIKES! Talking about setting yourself up for failure!

I do believe in setting goals and intentions for the year (and better yet each 12 week quarter). If you want to check out a book on how to do this, “The 12 Week Year” is a great resource that I've been using for a few years now. However, my all-time favorite way to really expand and become a better version of myself is to choose a Guiding Word or a Word of the Year.

I’ve even started a family tradition at our Christmas dinner of choosing and announcing our word – kids and all! My husband and brother-in-laws love being “coached” on holidays. Haha!!

2017 was the first year that I chose a Word of the Year. I chose SIMPLICITY. In every decision I made or action I took, this little word was in the back of my head. I recharged my organization skills tackling just about every room in my house one month at a time, I simplified systems in my business, I chose simple, pre-cut veggies at the grocery store, and more. Living a simpler life was wonderful and made me feel really good. SUCCESS!

For 2018, my year was guided by the word JOY. Life is too short not to be guided by happiness in both what you do and whom you surround yourself with. So I decided to take a year to chill out a bit and really tried to find as much joy as I could in my decisions, actions, family, business, etc. no matter what the situation was. SUCCESS!

You may have already seen me sprinkle this around my social media, but my word for 2019 is FEARLESS. After being in a comfort zone this past year, I thought it was time to really challenge myself and grow. I already got a head start by starting my YouTube channel and facing my fear of doing videos. Make sure to check out my latest video on how to avoid holiday weight gain below.

I'm super excited to guide my year with the word FEARLESS, and I can’t wait to share my fearless actions with you!
